The Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF) offers its own online test center for the Einbürgerungstest; free and official. Alongside that, our platform einbuergerungstest-vorbereitung.de exists. Many people wonder: Which one should I use? The honest answer is: ideally both. Here's why.

BAMF is the official authority that administers the Einbürgerungstest and publishes the questions. Its Online Test Center is the best first stop when you want to familiarise yourself with the test.

What BAMF offers

• Official source: The questions come directly from BAMF; exactly the ones that appear in the real exam.
• Free and no registration: You can start right away.
• Interactive practice: You answer questions one by one and see the correct answer immediately.
• Sample test runs: You can also simulate a complete test.
• Evaluation: At the end you see which questions you answered correctly and which ones incorrectly.

The limits of the BAMF Test Center

The official test center is a solid foundation, but it does have some limitations:

• German only: No translation help for non-native speakers.
• No progress saving: Your learning progress is not saved. Every time you visit, you start from scratch.
• No targeted practice: You can't specifically repeat your mistakes or practise weak topics.
• No app feature: The test center only works online in the browser.
• Basic interface: The user interface is functional but not particularly modern.

Honestly: Both platforms are good and complement each other. Here's how I suggest you combine them:

• Start with our platform if German is not your native language or if you want to learn in a structured way from the beginning. The translation help makes it easier to get started.
• Use the BAMF test center shortly before the exam to get to know the official environment and make sure you're comfortable with the original questions.
• Practise with us every day because here you can see your progress, specifically repeat your mistakes and also study offline.

Is our platform official?

No, we are not officially run by BAMF. We are an independent, free platform that uses all 463 official BAMF questions. The source is the publicly available BAMF complete question catalogue.

We do not administer exams and do not issue official certificates. For the actual Einbürgerungstest you still need to register at a Volkshochschule or an authorised test center.

Are the questions up to date?

Yes. We regularly check our questions against the official BAMF-Gesamtfragenkatalog, including the 10 new questions about antisemitism and Jewish life that were added in March 2024. You'll find the date of the last review directly on the Alle Fragen page.

Unlike many older apps and websites that often contain outdated answers (e.g. Angela Merkel as chancellor or 28 EU member states), with us you always find the current state.
